After spending an hour of research, deleting my recorded audio, and convinced to uninstall and re-install the Adobe Audition App with no success I found SIMPLE/EASY solution.
My problem WAS with the Effects Area being greyed out and therefore not usable. I could not add a reverb, echo or edit my vocals how I wanted to and it became frustrating. I searched online and found a solution but it seemed to only work on windows. Unfortunately I have a mac.
Solution for windows: (GOOGLABLE)
Open the Adobe folder in Documents. Locate the Audition Folder. Find any template/preset file with something.sesx . Then right-click it and open it with Adobe Audition.
Let me show you a simple, yet annoying maneuver to edit your vocals.
